My Philosophy.
One of the most persistent barriers to eliminating misconduct in the theatre community is the lack of clear, accessible procedures for reporting misconduct. Too often, theatre companies fall below the employee thresholds required for state and federal anti-discrimination laws to apply, leaving support staff, crew members, and artists without meaningful protection from inappropriate—or even unlawful—behavior. In these environments, individuals face a difficult choice: remain silent or risk retaliation, retraumatization, or reputational damage by speaking up.
To address these systemic gaps and protect members of this uniquely vulnerable industry, I’ve created a trauma-informed, experience-driven model designed to help professional theatre companies prevent misconduct and respond effectively when it occurs.
Drawing on my expertise in employment discrimination and sexual harassment law, I work directly with non-profit arts organizations to develop comprehensive—and comprehensible—policies. These tailored services empower theaters to take proactive, concrete steps to create safer, more accountable creative communities.
